Castle road
In the heart of Europe, in the north of central Slovakia, lies the Žilina region, which is unique not only for its natural scenery, but also for its cultural and historical heritage. The third largest region in Slovakia consists of five diverse regions: Horné Považie, Kysuce, Orava, Liptov and Turiec, which offer many opportunities for summer or winter tourism in national parks and protected land areas, many natural beauties, but also a rich and interesting history. The most important cultural monuments in the Žilina region certainly include the Orava Castle, which is one of the most visited castles in Slovakia, the Wedding Palace in Bytča or the oldest architectural monuments – the ruins of medieval castles usually located in beautiful lookout points (Strečno, Old castle, Lietava, Likava, Hričovský , Súľovský or Liptovský castle). However, we must not forget the monuments of folk architecture, the most famous of which is Vlkolínec, as well as painted wooden houses in Čičmany, the Museum of the Liptov Village in Pribylina or the open-air museum in Vychylovka.
So get to know the Žilina region with us, it really has many beauties that it can offer.
