Foreign cuisine restaurants sourcing their ingredients from local producers as well as traditional kolibas (traditional Slovak-style restaurants) and salašes (sheep dairy farms) offering local specialities and dishes based on traditional recipes from grandmothers with the main ingredients being goat and sheep milk, cheese, potatoes and cabbage. If you want to get a true taste of Liptov, you have to try Liptovská bryndza (special sheep cheese), žinčica (boiled sheep whey), korbáčiky (braids made of salted sheep cheese) and liptovské droby (unique kind of a sausage made using traditional methods).
