A village of Liptovský Trnovec is situated in the central part of the Liptovská kotlina (basin), in the valley of the brook Petruška. The cadastral area of the village stretches from the Western Tatras´ southern slopes on the north to the shores of the dam Liptovská Mara on the south. After building the dam, Liptovský Trnovec became a summer tourist resort. In addition to a well-known camping site, several guest houses and apartment facilities have been built in the last five years, and therefore a population in our community triples every summer. A nearby water park Tatralandia and an adjacent town of Liptovský Mikuláš make a stay in Liptovský Trnovec more attractive. Our village thus became a place, where advantages of staying in a rural environment are combined with advantages offered by the nearby busier regional centre.
